Packing List For Kilimanjaro
- Large trekking backpack or, better, a duffel bag (carried by the porter on the mountain)
- Small backpack (25-35 liters) with rain cover for daily necessities and photo equipment, etc.
- Suitcase or travel bag with lock (stays in the hotel with additional clothing etc. during the climb)
- Trekking poles
- Sleeping bag with compression bag, if necessary, with inlet
- Insulating mat (you can also rent them from us, but they are not as high quality)
- Flashlight, or better yet, headlamp
- Towel (quick-drying microfiber towels are practical)
- Tissues, wet wipes, hygiene products
- Sunglasses / glacier glasses
- Good sunscreen, especially for face and lips
- Mosquito spray (especially for the lower regions)
- Biodegradable soap, hand wash
- Energy bars, glucose for in between meals
- Thermos bottle – can be filled with hot tea on summit night and/or a drinking bottle. Water for the day will be filled into your bottles every morning and, if needed, at lunch and dinner.
- Thick, warm gloves and, if necessary, inner gloves
- scarf/shawl
- Warm hat, possibly also a ski mask
- Ankle-high, sturdy, waterproof trekking shoes with a good sole (preferably already well broken in)
- Gaiters (not absolutely necessary – but sometimes there is snowfall up above, then it is useful – they also keep you warm)
- Trekking sandals or jogging shoes for evenings in camp
- Good rain and wind clothing (rain pants, rain jacket, rain cover for daypack)
- Jacket (softshell)
- Fleece sweater/fleece jacket
- Warm, thick (down) jacket for summit day
- Functional pants (preferably zip pants that can be worn long or short)
- Long sweatpants for the evenings at camp
- Long and short functional shirts
- At least 1 pair of long underpants for summit day – you can also wear several on top of each other
