This 5-day safari is specially designed to showcase Tanzania’s wildlife at its most dramatic combining the elephant-rich landscapes of Tarangire National Park, the thrilling Great Migration calving season in Ndutu within the southern plains of Serengeti National Park, and the breathtaking wildlife haven of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Between December and March, Ndutu becomes the stage for one of nature’s most remarkable events thousands of wildebeest giving birth within a short period, attracting intense predator activity and creating unforgettable safari moments. This itinerary perfectly blends wildlife drama, scenic beauty, and diverse ecosystems.

Detailed Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.

Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the lodge or enjoy a short city tour. Your guide will brief you about the safari ahead. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Arusha, preparing for the adventure to begin the following day.

  • After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its massive elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. The Tarangire River attracts a wide variety of wildlife, especially during the dry season.

    Enjoy a full-day game drive with picnic lunch inside the park. You may encounter elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and numerous bird species. In the late afternoon, transfer to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, drive toward the Ndutu region, located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area bordering the southern Serengeti plains. As you approach Ndutu, the landscape opens into vast short-grass plains the perfect setting for the calving season.

From December to March, thousands of wildebeest gather here to give birth, with hundreds of calves born daily during peak season. Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive where you may witness newborn calves and the predators that follow the herds, including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Dinner and overnight at your camp in Ndutu.

Today is dedicated to exploring Ndutu’s wildlife-rich plains. The open grasslands provide excellent visibility, making it ideal for spotting predators and capturing incredible photographs.

The calving season brings dramatic wildlife interactions, with cheetahs actively hunting and lion prides patrolling the plains. Large herds of wildebeest and zebras spread across the areas surrounding Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek.

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with a picnic lunch in the bush. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, depart Ndutu and drive toward the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend 600 meters into this extraordinary natural amphitheater for a half-day game drive.

The crater floor supports a remarkable concentration of wildlife, including lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, flamingos, and the rare black rhino. After enjoying a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, ascend the crater rim and begin your return journey to Arusha. Drop-off at your hotel or airport for departure, marking the end of your unforgettable safari experience.
