Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, Tanga, or Arusha, you will be met by your safari guide for a direct transfer to the Tanga Region, specifically the charming town of Lushoto, nestled in the Usambara Mountains.

Upon check-in at your accommodation, your guide will provide a full orientation and briefing of the day-by-day program. Enjoy the serene atmosphere of this historical colonial-era town surrounded by lush green hills.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the lodge and begin your trek through traditional villages heading uphill toward the Magamba Rainforest. This pristine natural forest is home to the black-and-white colobus monkey, two-horned chameleons, and a diverse array of plant life.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in Magamba Village, then continue hiking further into the forest before taking a local public bus to the Rangwi Sisters Convent—a peaceful and culturally rich guesthouse. Accommodation is basic yet neat, with shared toilet facilities.

Begin your day trekking through hillside villages en route to Mabughai, a pottery-making village. Enjoy a traditional lunch hosted by the Ernest family, known for their warm hospitality and excellent local cuisine.

In Mabughai, participate in a hands-on pottery workshop, where you’ll learn traditional clay pot-making techniques. Continue trekking along the dramatic escarpment ridge of the Usambara Mountains to the renowned Mtae Viewpoint, offering sweeping 180-degree views across Tsavo West National Park in Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days.

In the evening, check into Magumba View Cottages, one of the finest accommodations in the region.
