Embark on a 7-day adventure to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route. Starting in lush forests, you’ll ascend through diverse landscapes, including the Shira Plateau and alpine desert. With proper acclimatization days and stunning views, you’ll reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters, the highest point in Africa. After summiting, enjoy a scenic descent to Mweka Gate, completing your unforgettable journey.

Route: Arusha – Lemosho Gate – Forest Camp

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Arusha to the Lemosho Gate, the starting point of the trek. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your crew, including guides and porters, who will accompany you throughout the climb. Starting at a leisurely pace, you will enter the lush Afro-montane Forest, gradually acclimatizing as you ascend. The trek offers a peaceful introduction to the beauty of Kilimanjaro’s diverse landscapes. After a lunch stop on the trail, you’ll reach Forest Camp in the afternoon for your overnight stay.

Route: Forest Camp – Shira 1 Camp

From Forest Camp, you’ll ascend through Podocarpus and Juniper forests before breaking through to the heath zone. As you reach the Shira Plateau, you will experience expansive views and a dramatic change in terrain. After a leisurely lunch on the trail, you’ll arrive at Shira 1 Camp in the afternoon, where you’ll have the opportunity to relax and acclimatize for the day.

Route: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp

Today’s trek is a shorter day after a longer hike on the previous day, allowing for important acclimatization. The trail leads you across the Shira Plateau to Shira 2 Camp, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch. The remaining afternoon is perfect for a short hike with your guide, exploring the surrounding area and further adjusting to the altitude.

Route: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Today, you'll follow a "climb high, sleep low" strategy, which is critical for acclimatization. Ascend into the alpine desert as you trek towards Lava Tower (4,630 m / 15,190 ft), where you can experience the stark beauty of Kilimanjaro's higher altitudes. After a brief stop at Lava Tower for lunch, you’ll descend to Barranco Camp, nestled at the base of the iconic Barranco Wall. The descent helps your body adjust to the altitude, and Barranco Camp offers spectacular views and an excellent opportunity for further acclimatization.

Route: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

The day begins with the exhilarating ascent of the Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding section that offers panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s slopes. Once at the top, you’ll continue to Karanga Camp for lunch. From here, you’ll embark on a gradual climb towards Barafu Camp, located in the barren alpine desert. Despite the harsh environment, Barafu Camp offers incredible views of Mawenzi Peak. After an early dinner, you will rest and prepare for the summit attempt that begins in the early hours of the following day.

Route: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,340 ft) – Mweka Camp

The summit attempt begins around midnight with a challenging ascent through the night. As you climb higher, the air thins, and the cold intensifies, but the reward is well worth the effort. The trek takes you past Stella Point and onto the summit of Uhuru Peak, the Roof of Africa. You’ll have time to celebrate your accomplishment and enjoy breathtaking views from the top of the continent. Afterward, descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Route: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha

On your final day of trekking, you’ll descend from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, where you’ll be presented with your summit certificate. A celebratory lunch will be served at the gate, and your transfer vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Arusha. Once you arrive in Arusha, you’ll have time to relax and reflect on your incredible journey. A farewell dinner will be hosted at your hotel, where you can recount the highlights of your adventure.
